Gabriel B goes to school
Gabriel B and his mother came today just at lunchtime to greet us and thank us. Gabriel is the child of our senior community health worker. He had severe rickets when he was a toddler and we were able to help him some back then. His main help, though, has been Dr. Tom Thacher, an American family practice doctor who is here with the Great Commission Movement working at the federal hospital (JUTH). He has done much to advance our understanding of rickets in African children.
Anyway, Gabriel is now about 12 years old and ready to go to secondary school. Education is so expensive here, and many can’t afford to go at all or can go only to very inadequate schools. It was our pleasure to be able to help Gabriel with some of the money our supporters have contributed. We know that this boy’s education will be a good investment.
