About Us: Meet the Blyths
Mike and Barb Blyth have been serving in Nigeria with SIM since 1991. Mike is a pediatrician and Barb is a foster mom who also helps in the SIM office. We began our fourth term of service here in January 2004.
Mike’s medical work includes
- responsibility for the pediatric service at Evangel Hospital
- teaching pediatrics to doctors in training at Evangel Hospital
- HIV/AIDS programs including writing, caring for affected children
- caring for missionary kids as well as Nigerians
- coordinating and supervising visiting medical students and residents
Barb has plenty to do just to keep the home running smoothly in an environment where homemaking is often quite challenging. (Examples: welcoming drop-in visitors, soaking the week’s vegetables in bleach). Hospitality for drop-in visitors and traveling missionaries is also part of her life. Two mornings a week she is the receptionist at the SIM office. And she is always busy caring for Luke!
- Blyths’ Home Page. Much of our recent news is getting put into the blog instead, but the site still contains our pictures, videos, stories of patients, kids’ weddings, and so on.
