The most common problems we see are all infectious diseases: malaria,
pneumonia, diarrhea, meningitis, tuberculosis, and HIV. We see many
newborns with fever, sometimes with an obvious skin infection as well.
Newborn jaundice, often with brain damage (kernicterus) is unusually
common in Nigeria, also.
