Doctors, please do something for my baby!" the young mother wailed, cradling her very ill son in her arms. Jeremiah looked even worse than he had an hour earlier on rounds. He was already on antibiotics and oxygen. We had even given him a diuretic to try to clear some of the fluid from his lungs. But now he was working even harder to breathe, grunting to try to get a bit more oxygen into his body.
"Be calm, mama. We're already doing everything we can, and we're going to move him into a special room where we can look after him better. There isn't any more we can do." I answered.
"Please pray for my baby, doctor. Pray for him now!" she said through tears.
As Dr. Eigbe and I gently put our hands on the boy and prayed, once again I realized why I was at Evangel Hospital...
