Observational study in HIV+ subjects, with four sequential phases: no intervention, co-trimoxazole prophylaxis, addition of HAART, and finally the addition of bednets. Each additional intervention was associated with a fall in the rate of malaria infection. The authors discuss the implications, including the suggestion that IT bednets be used more freely in HIV+ patients. Limitations of the observational design are also discussed.
